“make poor man follow chop Christmas” : 2nd Discount Market Kicks Off in PH

Dame Judith Ameachi Declaring the Market Open.

The second Port Harcourt Christmas discount market, designed as a palliative for the seasonal inflation which characterizes the festive season has commenced in the State capital organised by the Rivers State Government. The discount market would be hosted at the Isaac Boro Park, Port Harcourt. The market with the theme “make poor man follow chop Christmas” runs from December 1 to 31 2012, a period of one month. The Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Mr. Chuma Chinye said, that the discount market initiative is the government’s Social responsibility, adding that the high poverty level in the society informed its introduction.

Mr. Chinye also explained that prices of goods are usually high during the Christmas season, prompting government to initiate strategies to make prices of goods affordable to the common man.
According to him, government has collaborated with the organized private sector, particularly Manufacturers and major distributors to bring in their products and sell at bulk prices on retail.

To ensure the smooth take-off of the market, the abandoned area of the Isaac Boro Park has been prepared; with portacabins, which would be allotted to participants, the Commissioner disclosed.
Government would also provide the market with an uninterrupted 24 hour power supply, security, conducive public toilets and others, as part of incentives to promote smooth sales throughout the duration of the market.

So what are you waiting for, I heard things are really cheap there... if you have not got your Christmas dress yet, it will be half the prices so hurry.......
