TEN THINGS NEVER SAY TO YOUR MOTHER-IN-LAW

It's no secret that daughters-in-law and mothers-in-law have complicated relationships. "Both women can feel threatened," says Deanna Brann, PhD, psychotherapist and author of Reluctantly Related: Secrets to Getting Along with Your Mother-in-Law or Daughter-in-Law. Daughters-in-law want to establish their place in the family, while mothers-in-law want to ensure they're not excluded. Even when the women love each other, their roles can be hard to figure out. To avoid causing family stress, we asked real mothers-in-law (and some daughters-in-law too) about comments that have rubbed them the wrong way-and asked experts how you can address issues peacefully.
1. "You're welcome to come over anytime. We're always here for you."
An open-door policy is bound to backfire. For instance, Judy's* daughter-in-law told her she'd be there for her if she needed anything. "But when my husband developed Alzheimer's she went AWOL," leaving Judy hurt and confused. "Making promises you don't intend to keep leads to resentment," says Tina B. Tessina, PhD, psychotherapist and author of Money, Sex and Kids: Stop Fighting About the Three Things That Can Ruin Your Marriage. Instead, set up times to see each other that work for you both. If you're asked to make plans on the spot, say you need to check your calendar or talk with your husband before committing.

Rivers State Judiciary Staff Strike Continues

JUDICIARY staff in Rivers State, yesterday, vowed to continue with their strike until the crisis between the National Judicial Council, NJC and the Rivers State Government was resolved.
National Publicity Secretary of Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria, JUSUN, Mr. Kayode Igbarago, who spoke to newsmen in Port Harcourt, said the local chapter of the body was in order when it declared a strike over the conflict between the state government and NJC over the issue of Chief Judge of the state.
He said the national chapter of the body will meet soon to look into the ongoing strike by the state chapter.
He charged the state government and the NJC to resolve the crisis so that judiciary workers can call off the strike, noting that it would not be possible for the workers to serve two masters at the same time.
He said: “JUSUN has further endorsed the on-going strike in Rivers State Judiciary because it followed due process and in line with JUSUN constitution, adding that the strike as endorsed by the National Executive Council remains.
“We are saying that we have a duty to protect the rights of our workers. Rivers State Government and the NJC should settle their differences before any judiciary worker will go to work. He who must come to equity must come with clean hands.”

1. They stop to say "hello"
Research shows that how you spend the first four minutes of the evening at home sets the tone for the rest of the night. So even if you got there first and are in the middle of a thrilling scene of Orange Is the New Black, press pause when your husband walks in the door. "Stop what you're doing and hug him," says couples therapist Bob Taibbi. "A hug, even for 10 seconds, increases oxytocin, the brain chemical that makes you feel connected. It's a nightly ritual to stay bonded."

Wike's Hold On Rivers PDP Weakens as PDP National HQ Intervenes in State Party Crisis

Adamu Muazu

The inside power game within the distraught Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Rivers State has taken a new dimension as the National Headquarters of the Party led by Adamu Muazu is poised for a showdown with the Supervising Minister of Education over his recent moves to stop any plans by the National Exco of the Party to change the present leadership of the party led by Felix Obuah.

Inside sources who wouldn’t want to be mentioned spilled to revealed that the Minister has been ordered to vacate the Court Order he obtained through a surrogate, Chukwuemeka Aaron, the PDP Chairman of Obio/Akpor LGA from a High Court presided over by Justice Evoh Chukwu.

IS Professor Don Baridam Running for Governor in 2015?

Prof. Don Baridam
After Reading This Interview You can answer the Question.....

Professor Don Baridam is former Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, one-time chairman of the Committee of Vice Chancellors of Federal Universities, and ex-chairman of Association of Vice Chancellors of Nigerian Universities. Now an influential member of Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State, Baridam tells Francis Ugwoke the kind of governor the state would want in 2015. Excerpts:

How would you evaluate the strength of Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State after the defection of the governor, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, to All Progressives Congress?

Based on the history of Rivers State since the inception of PDP, the state has always been a
PDP state. Governor Amaechi as a free citizen has the right to go to any party of his choice, but his leaving PDP will not affect the fortunes of the party. I do not think that Governor Amaechi is leaving the party because he hates the party that brought him to limelight, and made him what he is. He is leaving the party because of the apparent misunderstanding between him and some people in the party. With a little patience and political sagacity, the differences would probably have been sorted out in the interest of all interest groups in our great party. But one beautiful thing about democracy is that it is the only known political system that confers choice on every citizen. Perhaps, I should add that the programmes which Governor Amaechi is executing in the state are PDP programmes, which goes to confirm our staying power and reach as the largest political party in Africa.

A terrorists’ intelligence cell headed by a businessman who participated actively in the abduction of School Girls in Chibok has been busted by troops. The man, Babuji Ya’ari who is also a member of the Youth Vigilante Group popularly known as Civilian JTF which he uses as cover while remaining an active terrorist, also spearheaded the murder of the Emir of Gwoza. Babuji has been coordinating several deadly attacks in Maiduguri since 2011, including the daring attacks on Customs and military locations as well as the planting of IEDs in several locations in the town.

In another development, troops deployed in Goniri, Yobe State, over the weekend, had an encounter with terrorists, resulting in casualties on both sides after the attack was successfully repelled.
