Governor Chibuike Amaechi has directed some
council chairmen in the state to rid Port Harcourt of
illegal workshops and markets.
The chairmen are those of Obi/Akpor, Eleme, Ikwerre and Port
Harcourt local governments. Amaechi gave the directive this week, saying the
city is becoming too dirty.
“Must it be me that will clear the illegal mechanic
workshops and markets? Anything I did not do remains undone.
“I hardly sleep more than three to four hours in a night
while the chairmen sleep for several hours daily,” Amaechi said.
The governor, however, said that once the government
acquired land to build mechanic workshops and markets, traders and mechanics
would be relocated from the city centre.
Amaechi said every available space in the city had been
turned into a market or workshop, thereby making the city dirty.
So Please if your shop is illegally placed state making plans to move..
