How effective is the Rivers state Ministry of Environment??

View Of Polluted Environment Under the Slaughter Bridge
Today is sanitation in Port Harcourt, do you think the sanitation which restricts citizens from 7-10am every first Saturday really impacts Positively on the environment? How seriously do people take this sanitation exercise? Do you think the Ministry of Environment is Doing their Job effectively other days of the month? Are we as Citizens more concern about our Environment?

I was on my to see a friend in Woji PHC and I passed through this slaughter bridge. On My way going it was difficult for me to take pictures so i had to wait till am on my way back. Coming back there was some traffic at the bridge and i took the opportunity to take some pictures.

If you are a citizen of Rivers state and live in Port Harcourt City, Once or twice in your life you must have crossed the slaughter bridge or maybe done some meat Shopping at the Slaughter. If you have, then you will be very familiar with the very Ugly sight caused by the Abattoir and the Market right by the sea. if you ever walk on the bridge you will be sorry because you would have to hold almost hold your breath through the Journey in order to protect your nose from the pungent smell Urine on the pedestrian area of the bridge.

I really think the neglect of pollution of such magnitude on our environment should not be tolerated and it is the responsibility of the ministry of environment to take necessary actions, but no!!! they would rather mobilize environmental task touts to monitor you in the city and where there is little or no need for Monitoring.

What do you think about this???
