POLITICAL HUMOR: APC Declares 7 Day Fast For Wike's Emergence as PDP Candidate.

These politicians just keep making the 2015 poll more exciting Hehe* in a funny statement released by the Rivers State All Progressives Congress, APC,  it  declared a seven-day fast to pray for the emergence of the supervising Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike, as the governorship candidate of the state Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the 2015 election.Mr. Wike was recently adopted by a section of the PDP as its candidate in the coming election. The action led to conflict in the party, with many groups kicking against it. Among the groups were the Ogoni Solidarity Forum, OSF, Rivers Mainstream Coalition, RMC, Rivers Converge, RC, and PDP Third Force Movement, PTFM.

In a statement on Tuesday by the office of its Interimf State Chairman, Davies Ikanya, the APC said it was elated by the reports of the adoption of the minister. It said though it was aware of the disunity in the PDP over the development, APC would embark on a fast for the groups to resolve their differences and adopt Mr. Wike. The APC said, this way, it would be easy to dismantle the PDP, which is the main opposition party in the state.“The fasting and prayer program will commence on March 24, 2014 and end April 1, 2014 at the APC State Secretariat, old GRA Port Harcourt, during the normal period of the weekly prayer and thanksgiving of APC Women,” the APC announced. “Evangelist Dr. Davies Ibiamu Ikanya the Interim State Chairman of APC, Evangelist Mrs. Carol Nagbo the APC State Women Leader and other great men and women of God are expected to conduct the end of the fasting event.”The party alleged that the PDP’s hatred for Rivers State was legendary and that anything that was lawful and spiritual to stop it from ruling the state was an effort in the right direction. It said that allowing Mr. Wike to fly the flag of the PDP was one of the ploys it would exploit as a party to stop the opposition party from ruling the state. The APC added, “PDP has ensured that the state’s funds dwindle by ceding our Soku oil wells to Bayelsa and others to Abia State. It has also ensured that the state lacks any sign of Federal Government presence by way of projects, besides promoting insecurity in te state.“Anything that would contribute to see to the total annihilation of such an evil party from Rivers State is a welcome development and one of the quickest ways to ensure the quick death of the party in the State is to allow Chief Wike to clinch the party’s ticket for the 2015 guber election.”The APC alleged that Mr. Wike spearheaded the PDP-led Federal Government’s onslaught against Rivers State and that he had lost political value in the state.“Most of the people that made him tick politically have since deserted him to APC while some hungry loafers are massaging his ego just to enable them have a meal at his expense,” the APC said.It also noted that the odds were against Mr. Wike because he was Ikwerre, the same ethnic group as the incumbent governor, Chibuike Amaechi, whose tenure ends in May, 2015.“With Governor Amaechi spending eight years as Executive Governor of Rivers State by 2015, it will amount to political slavery of other sections of Rivers State to allow another Ikwerre man to be elected governor come 2015; and as a just political party we will not allow such blunder to happen no matter the odds.“We have told our Ikwerre brothers interested in contesting the 2015 gubernatorial election to sacrifice their ambition in the spirit of equity, justice and fair play and allow other sections of the state to have a shot at the Brick House (the Rivers State Government House). In this regard, we intend to present to the state, at the appropriate time, a well-qualified candidate that will not only improve on the wonderful works that Governor Amaechi has ben doing in the state but, indeed, surpass it!”
