So You Can Now Buy Explosives In Port Harcourt???




Reading the heading of this post, i guess you will say impossible! but its true or should i say according to Aliyu Ibraham, a 30-year-old man, from Ndo village in Agbada, Kokona local government, Nasarawa State. The Nigerian Police Rivers command arrested him for being in possession of explosives, including detonators and a cordless wire.

The Commissioner of Police Rivers State Police Command, Mr. Tunde Ogunsakin who paraded the suspect said Ibrahim had confessed to be a member of a kidnap syndicate based in Ogbogoro town in Obio/Akpor local government area of the state.He said the suspect also confessed to be a member of a bank robbery syndicate operating between Port Harcourt and Akwa Ibom State. Ibrahim told the police that he bought the explosives in Port Harcourt with the aim of taking them to one Alhaji in Yobe State before he was caught.“He was arrested in Ndele Town in Emohua local government area of Rivers State on March 17, 2014 at about 2:30 pm with a huge quantity of dynamite explosives with their detonators and cordless wire.“The suspect confessed to be a member of a kidnap syndicate based in Ogbogoro town and a member of a bank robbery syndicate that operates between Port Harcourt and Akwa Ibom State,” the commissioner narrated.

He warned kidnappers and armed robbers in the state to leave or be ready to face the wrath of the law when they are apprehended, emphasising that, “we have continued to warn criminal elements to leave the state. If they refuse to leave the state, we will ensure that they face the wrath of the law when they are caught.”

N30million for PDP's Chieftain Dicken's release

Kidnappers of a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Port Harcourt City local government area of Rivers State, Mr Dicken Worlu have demanded N30million ransom for his release.Worlu was kidnapped about a week ago at his residence along Ojike Street, Mile One axis of Diobu, a densely populated area of Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.Wife of the kidnapped PDP chieftain, Mrs Patricia Worlu, who disclosed this when members of the National Association of Sea-Dogs (NAS), also known as Pirates Fraternity, paid her a sympathy visit, said the family had been praying for the safe and unconditional release of her husband.While appealing to the kidnappers to have pity on the family and release the husband, Mrs Worlu said the family had not been the same since the sad incident.She said, “We don’t have the money. Where will the money come from? We are begging that they release my husband unconditionally.”Earlier, leader of the NAS delegation, Professor Temi Akporhonor, lamented the state of insecurity in the country, urging the Rivers State government and the security agencies to take practical steps to secure the unconditional release of the hostage.Akporhonor, who described the kidnapped PDP chieftain as a personal friend, said it was sad that some criminal elements were trying to reduce the nation to a jungle, and advised the wife of Worlu and other family members to be strong, assuring that the security agencies and government would work to secure release of the head of the family.
