Boko Haram Strikes Lagos for the First Time.

Good Morning, I just read this news from Saharareporters about the explosion in Lagos Yesterday and I think you should read it and be the judge.

Contrary to information sent out by Lagos State officials that yesterday’s explosion in the Apapa area of Lagos came from a gasoline tanker explosion,SaharaReporters has now learned that the frightening event was a car bombing. Two security sources disclosed that the explosion was apparently carried out by a female suicide bomber and was aimed at igniting several gasoline depots in the area.

 The 9.15 p.m. explosion happened Tuesday on Creek Road near the Burma Road junction. One security source said the explosion could have triggered a massive inferno and inflicted a horrifying scale of casualties as well as damage to properties in the Apapa area, which is both a residential area as well as the hub of economic activities, including shipping, manufacturing, and storage of petrochemical products.

BIG SECURITY MEETING HOLDS TOMMORROW

Sequel to recent development in security  challenges facing the nation occasioned by Nyanyan bomb blast, President Goodluck Jonathan, will today hold an enlarged security meeting with the 36 state governors.

Agenda of the todays meeting, it was gathered, will be the reviewing of the security situation in the country, as well as ongoing national security measures and operations with a view to determining the best way forward.
Last Thursday, the president had summoned the governors for the enlarged meeting, but only Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors attended the meeting.
But Akwa Ibom State Governor Godswill Akpabio, who is also the chairman of PDP Governors, clarified why the All Progressive Congress (APC) governors were absent, saying the meeting was called at the instance of the party's governors, that All Progressives Congress were not invited. Lets hope we get results.

NORTHERN Governors Meet with Us National Security Advisor in White house

IN a bid to to bring an end to the violence and insurgency in northern Nigeria, 12 Northern governors and a deputy governor, on Monday, attended a meeting in the White House, United States.At the meeting hosted by the United States National Security Advisor, Susan E. Rice, areas of strategic importance to both the United States and Nigeria were discussed.

So You Can Now Buy Explosives In Port Harcourt???

Reading the heading of this post, i guess you will say impossible! but its true or should i say according to Aliyu Ibraham, a 30-year-old man, from Ndo village in Agbada, Kokona local government, Nasarawa State. The Nigerian Police Rivers command arrested him for being in possession of explosives, including detonators and a cordless wire.

The Commissioner of Police Rivers State Police Command, Mr. Tunde Ogunsakin who paraded the suspect said Ibrahim had confessed to be a member of a kidnap syndicate based in Ogbogoro town in Obio/Akpor local government area of the state.He said the suspect also confessed to be a member of a bank robbery syndicate operating between Port Harcourt and Akwa Ibom State. Ibrahim told the police that he bought the explosives in Port Harcourt with the aim of taking them to one Alhaji in Yobe State before he was caught.“He was arrested in Ndele Town in Emohua local government area of Rivers State on March 17, 2014 at about 2:30 pm with a huge quantity of dynamite explosives with their detonators and cordless wire.“The suspect confessed to be a member of a kidnap syndicate based in Ogbogoro town and a member of a bank robbery syndicate that operates between Port Harcourt and Akwa Ibom State,” the commissioner narrated.

He warned kidnappers and armed robbers in the state to leave or be ready to face the wrath of the law when they are apprehended, emphasising that, “we have continued to warn criminal elements to leave the state. If they refuse to leave the state, we will ensure that they face the wrath of the law when they are caught.”
