MOSOP: Rivers State Government Stole 2000 Hectares of Farmland in Ogoni Land.

Just Saw this Press Release and felt i should post it. Although a rally has already taken place, how true are these allegations? I think its important the government give their own side of the story.. don't you think so? Well here is the Press release.

The Movement for The Survival of the Ogoni People (MOSOP) has revealed documents showing how the Rivers State Government fraudulently acquired over 2,000 hectares of Ogoni farmlands and handed them to a Mexican farmer for the establishment of a banana plantation.

The documents which were publicly distributed in Bori, the traditional headquarters of the Ogoni people by the MOSOP Kingdom Coordinators Forum headed by Frank Jonah revealed that the Rivers State Government’s claim of having diligently consulted with the land owners and paid them for the land is far from the truth.

OGONI: We Never Endorsed Wike

The people of Ogoni in Rivers State have distanced themselves from the alleged endorsement of the supervising minister of education, Chief Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike to contest the governorship election in the state on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), come 2015.A group, the Ogoni/Orashi Alliance (OOA), recently endorsed Wike, who hails from the same Ikwerre ethnic nationality and Rivers East senatorial district with the incumbent governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, for the gubernatorial race.
