the Photo above is confirmed to be that of the winner of THE MTN Ultimate Wonder Ebube Essien-Garricks, sources say this picture was talking in an MTN friendship center in Port Harcourt. 
Ebube Essien-Garricks is a a 27-year-old student of the College of Health Science and Technology, Rivers State. Given the Option of a Cessna 182T aircraft or N64Million, she quickly Opted for the Cash instead of the Plane.

JRC AND MEND VOWS TO START NEW INSURGENCY IN THE NIGER DELTA

A group has justified the ceaseless stealing of crude oil including upgrade in vessel facilities, vowing to start a new wave of insurgence in the Niger Delta soon.

Cynthia Whyte, spokesperson for the Joint Revolutionary Council (JRC) that also included the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), said in an e-mail statement to media houses, “Oil product sabotage will continue; and then lead the way for the new wave of insurgence”.

Some Hours ago, MTN anounced the winner of the MTN Ultimate wonder EBUBE ESSIEN-GARRICKS, whose prize was an airplane or the choice of N64million.

Once I heard this News I Facebooked the name but saw two profiles which both had no profile picture. but just some moments ago I checked again and one of the profiles had over 60 friends and about 3 pictures....

BIG NEWS:::: PORT HARCOURT GIRL WINS MTN AEROPLANE

A winner has eventually emerged in the MTN Ultimate Wonder Promo where a brand new Cessna 182T aeroplane was the star prize. This is notwithstanding the instruction by NCC that all promotions and lotteries by telecommunications companies be stopped with immediate effect. 

According to an announcement on MTN Nigeria’s official Facebook page, Miss Ebube Essien-Garricks, 27, a student, won the prize.

The statement reads:

“We are delighted to announce that Miss Ebube Essien-Garricks, a 27 year old student based in Port Harcourt, Rivers state, has emerged winner of the brand new Cessna 182T AEROPLANE in the MTN Ultimate Wonder Promo which ended today!

“When contacted on phone, Ebube said she would prefer the cash equivalent of N64 million. Wise Port Harcourt Girl.... 

I am so Happy for her, cant wait to meet her.. I even tried to find her on Facebook but I couldn't, saw two different inactive accounts. Don worry guys am making all efforts to get you photo's.

On Sunday the 10th of November, 2012, Rhythm FM Port Harcourt rolled out the carpet to celebrate a decade of great success and excellence in broadcasting in the garden city.

MOB ACTION: Suspected Armed Robber Set Ablaze in Warri

An armed robber using a motorcycle met his waterloo at the early hours of Sunday in the oil-rich city of Warri, Delta State, while trying to snatch a handbag from a lady.

The incident occurred at Enemejuwa Junction, off Ometan Road, Warri.

The young man was set ablaze by an irate mob.

According to a witness who gave her name as Celina Agbo, the robbers were about six in number, but luck ran out of one of them after snatching a bag from her victim.

For as long as I can remember this Building has been left like this without any attention.

If you enter inside this Building you will be very disappointed and because of the lack of care, almost everything is falling apart. 

Lets begin to speak Up so our society will get better. I will take time but if we begin to pay attention things going wrong around us and talk about it, someone will hear that will tell another person and finally something will positive will happen.

PORT HARCOURT HOSTS:: BRACED EDUCATION SUMMIT 15-17th NOV

EFFORTS to revive the education sector in Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Edo and Delta (the BRACED states) will get a boost at a November 15-17, 2012 summit in Port Harcourt.

Former World Bank Vice President for Africa, Oby Ezekwesili, will deliver the keynote at the event which is being facilitated by the BRACED Commission.

A statement by the commission’s director-general, Ambassador Joe Keshi, said the summit would attract the brightest and the best in the nation’s education sector as well as corporate entrepreneurs including Mr Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, the Group Managing Director of Access Bank, Tonye Cole, the Chief Executive Officer of Sahara Group and Tony Elumelu, the Chairman of Heirs Holding.

TWO LECTURES of the University of Port Harcourt SUED for PLAGIARISM

Professor Victor Dike, an adjunct professor at the School of Engineering and Technology, National University, Sacramento, United States has sued two lecturers at the Department of Economics of the University of Port Harcourt, Professor Steve Tamuno and Professor Needorn Richard Sorle before a Federal High Court in Port Harcourt for alleged plagiarism.

OYO STATE MOURNS

Gov. Lam Adesina 

Oyo State Government has declared a seven-day mourning in honour of former governor of the state, Alhaji Lam Adesina, who died on Sunday morning at St. Nicholas Hospital, Lagos, at 73 years.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Dr. Festus Adedayo, said this in a statement.

The statement read in part, “The state government has declared a seven-day mourning for the departed elder statesman and former teacher of Governor Abiola Ajimobi.

“During the period, all official state functions will be suspended and the national flag flown at half mast.”

Flyover Market 

Governor Chibuike Amaechi has directed some council chairmen in the state to rid Port Harcourt of illegal workshops and markets.

The chairmen are those of Obi/Akpor, Eleme, Ikwerre and Port Harcourt local governments. Amaechi gave the directive this week, saying the city is becoming too dirty.

Over 4 years ago, the Rivers state Government, embarked on a shopping mall project at G.R.A Junction in the Former School Land Comound, the Building was completed between 4-6months but Up till now the Structure has not been used for anything. Anytime I pass that building I wonder what could be the reason behind the abandonment 
sometimes you  see tractors clearing the place but at the end its still left the way it is.

I asked, some people about the mall and they said  "It is because the project was awarded by the former Governor Omehia before he left office, that's why this Present Administration has not Completed it" Others say, the Government is looking for competent companies to properly manage them. There were also some speculations that its Gonna be SHOPRITE but its been over 4 years what is happening to that Building.

iLL-EQUIPPED HOSPITALS In RIVERS STATE FACE SHUTDOWN

The Rivers Government on Wednesday threatened to close down hospitals that were not adequately staffed and equipped.

Dr Sampson Parker, the Commissioner for Health, issued the threat in Port Harcourt at a press briefing.

“Any hospital that is below the required medical standard will be closed down, whether it is owned by government or private individuals.

UNIVERSITY OF PORT HARCOURT REOPENS::MONDAY 12th Nov 2012::

The University Of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) has Issued a statement saying all regular academic activities resumes on Monday the 12th of NOV 2012. You will recall that the school has been shutdown since the gruesome killing of 4 students of the University Chidiaka, Lloyd, Tekena, Ugonna Now know as #ALUU4 a month ago, may there soul rest in peace.
