Heart Land FC Owerri Wins Charity Shield in Port Harcourt.

Federation Cup champions on Thursday added the 2012 charity shield to their trophy cabinet following a 2-0 victory over reigning Nigeria Premier League (NPL) champions, Kano Pillars at the Sharks FC Stadium in Port Harcourt.

Goals either side of the break from Happy Akuoka and John Owoeri gave the Naze Millionaires victory in the game billed to flag off the 2012/13 NPL season.

Kano Pillars put in a disjointed display and rarely threatened with clear cut goal scoring opportunities.

Tuesday in the #CARNIRIV Village was like a trip to the 70's and 80's. It was a night coloured with performances from Legends of the past and some new popular musicians. HOSH-Highlife, Old School & Hiplife Jams

Artists like Semi-Column, Marshall-YO, bands like the Apostles, One world were the pilots who took us back in time. New Breed of musicians were Oyinkuro and Oba Omega.
The Crowd was not Familiar with the names of the Old artist but with Popular songs done by them in the past.

We are almost half way into December and some days away from 2013 this means many people have started making plans and setting goals for the New year.

Some just wish for things while some just set clear goals. If you ask most people what is their one major objective in Next year, they would probably give you a vague answer, such as, "I want to be hammer next year, or I want to make a good living," and that is it. These are all wishes and not clear goals.

Goals must be SMART:

1. S--specific. For example, "I want to lose weight." This is wishful thinking. It becomes a goal when I pin myself down to "I will lose 10 pounds in 90 days."

2. M--must be measurable. If we cannot measure it, we cannot accomplish it. Measurement is a way of monitoring our progress.

3. A--must be achievable. Achievable means that it should be out of reach enough to be challenging but it should not be out of sight, otherwise it becomes disheartening.

4. R--realistic. A person who wants to lose 50 pounds in~30 days is being unrealistic.

5. T--time-bound. There should be a starting date and a finishing date.

I got to hear about a new Chinese Restaurant(ASIA TOWN) in PH through a brief discussion I had with @touchph some 2 weeks ago and yesterday I saw for myself how incredible this place is, Its really is a touch of heaven.

ASIA TOWN is a high-class Modern restaurant in Port Harcourt. Covering the three majors's of a classic Restaurant ; Ambiance and Decor, service and Food, with a sitting capacity of 500(perfect for weddings, Corporate Dinners, product lunches, Fashion show's etc) I rivals non.

The Opening last night was one filled with Glamour, style and a treat to pure Chinese delicacies, so much to drink and great music to go with it. (it was like a buffet set in Heaven just that its Chinese Food hehehe*** not sure the kind of food that would be served in Heaven). I have never seen such opening anywhere in the Country.

Top on the Guest list was His Excellency Gov Ameachi followed by HIgh Chief O.B Lulu Briggs and his Lovely wife, the event was also graced by elder states men and High class businessmen. View photo's from the opening after the Cut.

Port Harcourt Hosts First Edition of Polo Pageant in 2013

The Polo Sport Modelling Agency (PSMA) on Today said the agency would use beauty pageant as a strategy to empower girls so as to dissuade them from prostitution.
Mr Odafe Atogun, Managing Partner of the club, on a press conference in Abuja, said information available to the agency suggested that must young girls were lured into prostitution without knowing it. He also identified poverty as a driving force that promotes the trade.

Gospel Music they say is food to the soul, well I confirmed that yesterday at the #CARNIRIVPraiseJam. The event was one filled with great music ministers from around the world. Although the event started about 3hrs behind schedule due to very avoidable circumstances, people who stayed behind still got blessed**
One other noticeable issue at the event was the absence of the leaders of the state and the number of people at the arena, I would say it was as a result of the delay.

After JAHDIEL(LAGOS), D-SMART(PH), AFY DOUGLASS(PH), SODIENYE OMELEY, PRECIOUS OMUKU and the 100 Voices Assemnle, Gave very Soul touching Ministrations.

Chelsea's John Mikel Obi has been given a three-match ban and fined £60,000 by the Football Association for threatening referee Mark Clattenburg.

Mikel who just signed a Fresh 5yr Deal with Chelsea admitted an FA charge following an incident in the match officials' changing room after Chelsea's defeat by Manchester United on 28 October.

Dangote Cement Plc (DANGCEM), Nigeria’s biggest company by market capitalization, shut its Gboko plant in the central region of the country because imported, cheap cement is being sold in the area served by the unit.

“There is massive importation and dumping of low-quality, cheap cement imported into the Enugu and Port Harcourt area” in southeastern Nigeria, said Anthony Chiejina, a spokesman for Dangote. This has led to rising levels of unsold cement at the plant, which has an annual capacity of 4 million metric tons, he said.

The second Port Harcourt Christmas discount market, designed as a palliative for the seasonal inflation which characterizes the festive season has commenced in the State capital organised by the Rivers State Government. The discount market would be hosted at the Isaac Boro Park, Port Harcourt. The market with the theme “make poor man follow chop Christmas” runs from December 1 to 31 2012, a period of one month. The Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Mr. Chuma Chinye said, that the discount market initiative is the government’s Social responsibility, adding that the high poverty level in the society informed its introduction.

Nigerian Woman Beats Oprah Winfrey as Richest Black Woman

According to a report published by Ventures Africa, an African business magazine and news service, Oprah Winfrey is no longer the richest black woman in the world. Folorunsho Alakija, a Nigerian Fashion designer and Oil tycoon is the richest black woman in the world, and is worth an estimated $3.3 billion.

Toyo Engineering Corp. and Daewoo Nigeria Ltd. have been chosen to build an ammonia and urea plant in Rivers state Nigeria.

The facility, the largest awarded by Indorama Eleme Fertilizer and Chemicals Ltd., will be built at the existing Indorama Eleme Petrochemicals complex at Port Harcourt, River state, Nigeria. It is scheduled to be operational by the last quarter of 2015.

The plant will have a daily production capacity of 2,300 tons of ammonia and 4,000 tons of granulated urea from natural gas feedstock.

This Project will create more than 1000 jos in the state.

Police rescue four abducted female corps members in OYIBO (Rivers State)

FOUR female corps members abducted at the Iriebe corps members’ lodge in Oyibo Local Council of Rivers State were Sunday rescued by the police.

The Guardian learnt that a gang of about seven armed bandits gained entrance into the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) transit camp at Iriebe through the fallen part of the fence. They entered the corps members’ rooms through the doors that had no burglary proofs, stole their phones, laptops and cash.

It was further learnt that the hoodlums abducted four of the female corps members during the operation.

While confirming the incident, the Spokesman of the State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ben Ugwuegbulem, said the Oyigbo Police Division swiftly mobilised the team of police officers to the scene immediately they received the information.

He said that the hoodlums abandoned the corps members as the police chased them.

RHYTHM FM PH WINS: Best Radio Station of The Year (South-East) at the NBMA

Rythm FM Port Harcourt, who recently celebrated their 10th Anniversary in November this year, last night won the award for Best Radio Station of the year (South East) at the Nigerian Broadcasting Merit Awards which took place at NECA house, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos state. The Event which from reports was better than that of last year, was met by the late Coming of On-Air Personalities which led to winners of some categories not been announced due to time constraint.

State Sector Commander Dr Kayode Olagunju

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) said it had convicted 176 motorists for various road offences in Rivers State

The State sector commander Dr Kayode Olagunju, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Port Harcourt on on Monday.
